Our team decided to create documentaries to inform the public of the Otay Ranch Preserve, including it’s eight parcels, that have different animal and plant species. The documentaries also address other topics related to the Otay Ranch Preserve such as restoration efforts and wildlife corridors. We started off this project by researching valuable information and interviewing professionals about our topic. Then, we started filming and editing the documentaries you are going to see!
These are our first drafts. We will be using critique from our exhibition to revise and edit these videos and to create the final versions. Final documentaries will be posted here by the end of January. Enjoy!

otay Ranch preserveOur documentary is about the Otay Ranch Preserve. It talks about the eight different parcels within the preserve and the different restoration programs that are happening. We included an interview of Anna Bennett from RECON, Environmental, Inc. talking about some of the mitigation efforts, including our efforts to restore the Cactus Wren. Our documentary is meant to inform the public about the habitat restoration programs happening in our local community. It also talks about the development in Otay Ranch, explaining how mitigation is working in the Otay Ranch Nature Preserve.

multiple species conservation program (mscp)Our group's documentary topic for the Cactus Wren Restoration project was the MSCP. The MSCP is an organization that protects wildlife, plant species and animals. Our group also included information about the native grasslands and clay soil openings. The information about the Native grasslands and Clay Soil openings helped us understand why the MSCP is so important.
